If you are comparing IT hardware management platforms for your distributed workforce, you are likely considering Deel IT and GroWrk.

GroWrk is a standalone hardware logistics platform built around global procurement, deployment, retrieval, storage, and disposal across 150+ countries.

Deel IT is part of Deel’s broader HR, payroll, and compliance platform. It supports device management across 130+ countries and makes more sense for companies already using Deel for workforce management.

So, what is the right choice?

A flexible, IT-focused hardware logistics platform with wider country coverage. Or a device management layer that connects closely with your existing Deel HR workflows.

This guide compares both platforms honestly based on product research (demo videos and interactive product tours) and real user reviews across multiple features, including procurement, disposal, automation, HRIS integration, pricing, and more.

By the end of this article, you’ll have enough information to pick the right tool that best meets your specific business needs.

    Overview

    GroWrk

    Source: GroWrk

GroWrk is an IT hardware logistics platform that handles procurement, deployment, and retrieval across 150+ countries through a network of local partners and certified resellers rather than company-owned warehouses.

    Who uses it

Companies whose employees are spread across many countries, especially in emerging markets, use GroWrk. It's also a common choice for smaller or early-stage teams that want to avoid a subscription commitment.

    Primary strengths

GroWrk relies on in-country resellers to source and ship devices. This is how it reaches 150+ countries worldwide, making GroWrk one of the few platforms with such a vast reach.

Another thing I liked about GroWrk is their pay-as-you-go model. It’s ideal for organizations that want to address immediate IT equipment needs without ongoing SaaS fees.

    Known limitations

Because GrowWrk relies on partners across different countries to manage the asset lifecycle and logistics, users report inconsistent deliveries. Also, their asset tracking isn’t real-time, since updates take some time to appear in the dashboard.

    Deel IT

    Source: Deel

Deel IT (formerly Hofy) is the device management module inside Deel's HR, and compliance platform. It handles devices, application access, security, and offboarding from a unified dashboard.

When an HR action, such as a hire or a termination, occurs in Deel, the IT team responds automatically. Devices get ordered, configured, or locked without a separate ticket or manual handoff.

    Who uses it

Deel IT works best for companies that already use Deel for HR or payroll. Because device workflows are connected directly to employee records, teams that run hiring and payroll through Deel get the most out of it.

    Primary strengths

One of the major advantages of Deel IT is that it brings HR and IT under the same roof. Remember, Deel IT is a part of Deel’s global payroll HR and compliance platform?

    Known limitations

Per-device pricing makes Deel IT expensive, when fully stacked (MDM, endpoint, 24/7 support, Identity, and more ) around $150/month/user.

Also, multiple users have reported that Hofy’s support has degraded after its acquisition by Deel.

GroWrk vs Deel IT: Feature-by-Feature Comparison

Below, I’ll compare GroWrk Vs Deel IT, based on multiple features, including procurement, asset visibility, automation capabilities, security, pricing, and more.

Comparing based on these categories will equip you with the information you need to make the right choice for your IT asset management needs:

    1. Procurement and Global Hardware Delivery

    GroWrk

GroWrk covers 150+ countries by sourcing devices locally through certified in-country resellers rather than operating its own warehouses.

They claim delivery is within 7 business days, though this varies by region. For instance, this user on G2 reports shipment delays with GroWrk:

    Source: G2

GroWrk’s local model also avoids customs bottlenecks by buying hardware where your employee works. This gives them an edge in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, whereas other platforms might struggle with shipping rules in those same regions.

The catalog, however, is limited to IT equipment (laptops, peripherals, VR headsets, monitors, etc.); there’s no furniture or merchandise, unlike platforms like Workwize. GroWrk does not operate its own warehouses, so the quality depends on the quality of local partners in each market.

    Deel IT

Deel IT delivers devices to 130+ countries, fulfills orders from three centralized hubs (US, UK, and EU), and supplements this with local in-country partners.

Delivery times vary by destination; Deel’s own documentation says 10 days or less for most orders and there’s express shipping, too. The catalog focuses on laptops and accessories; during onboarding, new hires pick from a pre-approved, role-based device list set by admins.

As you’d expect, devices arrive pre-configured with MDM and security policies through Deel IT's built-in endpoint management.

Deel handles customs and regional tax end-to-end. The major limitation is that catalog availability varies by country and coverage varies in emerging markets compared to GroWrk. Also, you can’t procure and deploy furniture through Deel IT, as with GroWrk.

    Winner: GroWrk

GroWrk covers 150+ countries, which is visibly higher than what Deel IT supports. Plus, GroWrk promises to deliver IT assets within 7 business days, compared to Deel IT’s 10.

    2. Automation and HRIS Integration

    GroWrk

GroWrk integrates with multiple HRIS platforms like BambooHR, Keka, BizMerlinHR, and more to help you create automated onboarding and offboarding workflows.

When a new hire joins the company, GroWrk lets you order the necessary equipment and choose additional services like MDM install.

    Source: GroWrk Demo

MDM install ensures that new hires receive pre-configured machines with minimal manual intervention, just like this GroWrk user on Reddit confirms:

    Source: Reddit

While GroWrk does say they automated onboarding, but I couldn’t find a specific explanation on the integrations page or a demo video demonstrating an automated offboarding workflow.

Just to be sure, I tried the demo. And within a few clicks, IT can initiate onboarding and secure retrieval that also includes data erasure and a legal hold:

    Deel IT

Deel IT, as you know, is a part of Deel’s larger ecosystem. It integrates natively with Deel HR, automating onboarding and offboarding via HRIS-based triggers.

I took the interactive Deel IT demo (since there was no free trial) to understand the automated workflows.

Say you’re using the complete Deel platform. When you add an employee to the HR platform, you’ll get an option to provision devices within the same workflows:

For instance, you can add equipment and customize it based on the region, add hardware support or warranty. Once you confirm the order, Deel will take over and ensure the devices reach your employees across 130+ countries:

The same goes for offboarding. Just mark the terminated employee in Deel HR and you’ll get an option to initiate retrieval within the same workflow, enabling zero-touch offboarding.

    Winner: Tie

If a company wants a more standalone ITAM or device-lifecycle management platform, GroWrk is the cleaner fit because its value proposition centers on IT operations and HRIS integrations, without requiring you to buy into a broader HR stack.

Deel IT is stronger when you are already using Deel or are willing to make Deel part of your HR ecosystem. Because that is where its workflow automation becomes most seamless.

    3. Asset Visibility and Tracking

    GroWrk

Based on GroWrk’s demo, the dashboard provides all the information you need, from total assets and active employees to depreciation status and more.

What I liked here is GroWrk claims to provide real-time AI-powered updates about your inventory. For instance, you can get notified if a device is due for replacement or which country accounts for most orders and more.

However, real users on G2 have something different to say. For instance, this user reports that the dashboard doesn’t display real-time information and lags:

    Source: G2

    Deel IT

Deel IT’s dashboard gives you a straightforward view of all your assets. You can see the number of assets you currently have, where they are, who they’re assigned to, their MDM status, agreement, and model, among other details.

Using the same dashboard, you can add new devices to your inventory:

    Source: Deel

Simply click the device you want more information for, and Deel IT will take you there. As you can see in this screenshot, you can check the asset health, associated documents, service packages, and location.

    Winner: Tie

Both tools offer in-depth visibility into the assets and their status.

You might think Deel IT looks like the clear winner, since GroWrk users complain about lagging dashboard updates. But you can’t find any reviews dedicated to Deel IT. And this lack of data makes it tough to make a fair comparison.

    4. Offboarding and Device Retrieval

    GroWrk

GroWrk supports both manual, and automated HRIS-triggered retrieval. You can initiate access revocation and device collection from an employee's profile or let a termination event in your HR system trigger it automatically. A dedicated CSM oversees each offboarding personally.

During the offboarding process, you have the option to apply a legal hold. This suspends/delays data wiping to prevent unintentional loss of relevant information.

While you may think it only delays ‌data erasure, sometimes the data on the device is worth preserving for audits or legal purposes. And in those cases, legal hold helps prevent any data loss.

    Deel IT

Deel IT integrates with HR data to automate offboarding and retrieval workflows. When HR records a termination in Deel, the offboarding workflow is triggered, which revokes access and initiates the return process after confirmation.

But, unlike GroWrk, Deel IT asks the employees or the company (via MDM) to perform a preliminary data wipe. And after receiving the device, Deel again performs certified data erasure. That means the device data is wiped even before the device is picked up, adding security.

Winner: GroWrk by a thin margin

For me, the winner is GroWrk, because of its legal hold feature. It allows you to prevent instant data erasure in scenarios where the data needs to be reviewed for audit or compliance reasons. But you can always wipe the data remotely from your MDM if you need to.

Plus, GroWrk helps you retrieve assets across 150+ countries, which is higher than Deel’s 130+ countries.

However, for Deel IT, you or the employee must wipe the device to factory settings before it is picked up. Or else they’d charge a fee.

Also, asking the employee to wipe the data isn’t the best idea, since they might not follow the instructions as expected, risking data exposure.

    5. IT Asset Disposal and End-of-Life Management

    GroWrk

GroWrk gives you a structured way to retire devices through clear options directly inside the platform. You can choose from several disposal paths, depending on what makes the most sense for each device. Here are all the options you have:

    • Use the buyback option when the device still has resale value
    • Choose recycling when the device should be processed responsibly
    • Select destruction when secure disposal is required
    • Opt for donation when the device is still usable but no longer needed

That flexibility is one of GroWrk’s biggest strengths. The process is also transparent. You can request end-of-life (EOL) services from either the inventory view or an employee profile, then review a detailed buyback quote before deciding whether to approve or decline it.

GroWrk follows NIST 800-88 and DoD 5220.22-M standards for data destruction. It also supports AAA or NIST-compliant certificates, as well as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance.

Depending on the disposal path, GroWrk issues certificates for destruction, recycling, or donation. It also provides recycling certificates that support sustainability reporting.

    Deel IT

Deel IT takes a more simplified approach. It includes certified data wiping and device retirement as part of its broader device lifecycle management, rather than offering a dedicated ITAD module.

    In practice, that means

    • Devices are securely wiped at the end of life and then either retired or cleared for resale
    • You get visibility into lifecycle status and any remaining asset value
    • You do not get in-platform control over disposal paths such as destruction, recycling, donation, or buyback

Deel IT treats end-of-life as a single step within its lifecycle workflow. That makes it simple to use but less flexible and less detailed than GroWrk.

    Winner: GroWrk

Compared to Deel, GroWrk offers more granular disposal options and the strongest in-platform buyback workflow.

    6. Implementation and Time to Value

I analyzed multiple user reviews to understand how much it takes for both the platform to implement and use. And here’s what I found:

    GroWrk

Based on G2 data, the average implementation time for real users is a full month. However, since GroWrk is an ITAM tool for medium- to large-sized businesses, this isn’t on the higher end:

    Source: G2

In fact, this GroWrk user said, setting up the platform was easy and fast, which made their overall experience positive:

    Source: G2

    Deel IT

For Deel IT, the story is similar; users praise ease of implementation:

    Source: G2

However, one thing I noticed was that most user reviews focused on Deel’s overall platform, not on Deel IT specifically.

Winner: GroWrk (Deel IT lacks evidence)

GroWrk has clearer public evidence of roughly a one-month implementation window. However, Deel IT does not have equally clear independent review data on implementation time.

    7. Pricing

    GroWrk

GroWrk offers three plans: A La Carte (free platform access, pay per order), Flex (subscription and variable logistics pricing) and All-in (subscription along with flat rates for deploying, retrieving, storing, and recycling).

    • The A La Carte plan charges nothing for platform access. You only pay when you actually place an order.
    • The Flex and All-in tiers include 40+ integrations, MDM zero-touch deployment, a dedicated CSM, and end-of-lifecycle services.
    • Many reviewers are dissatisfied with the pricing. A G2 reviewer said, "the cost involved tends to be on the higher end, making it less cost-effective than I would like."

I find the pay-as-you-go plan is pretty useful, especially if you’re trying out the tool or have a small team.

    Deel IT

Deel IT's pricing is more layered than GroWrk's. However, the company has recently simplified pricing with straightforward plans. Now, the entry point for IT managers is the Starter plan at $45 per user per month.

    There are other considerations:

    • You need a paid per-seat plan to unlock DLM, MDM endpoint protection and self-service ordering.
    • Device lifecycle management is priced at an agreed base rate, with separate pricing for laptops vs. mobile or tablet devices.
    • You commit to a set number of seats for 12 or 24 months. If you enroll more devices than your committed seats, overages are billed at the agreed rate.
    • Logistics aren't unlimited. You earn credits based on the enrolled device, like 100 laptops for 12 months gets you 20 store/transfer credits, 4 loaner credits, and 1 replacement credit. If you exceed your credits, you pay extra.
    • BYOD storage costs $20/device per month, starting from the second month.

This model works well if you're already paying for Deel's HR and payroll suite; Deel IT becomes an add-on to the platform you're already using. But if you're adopting Deel IT standalone for asset management, the costs compound quickly.

Also, based on the real user reviews from Reddit (when Deel IT was Hofy), people found it way too expensive. For instance, this Reddit user said the hardware was at least 25% more expensive than the market prices, which can be a deal breaker at scale:

    Source: Reddit

Winner: Tie (Choose what suits your needs)

    • GroWrk is the better choice for companies that want flexibility, lower upfront commitment or pay-as-you-go economics.
    • Deel IT is the better choice for companies with steadier device volumes that prefer predictable per-seat lifecycle coverage and bundled service costs.

Pro Tip: It’s always a smart move to ask the sales team to be transparent and ask the right pricing questions. This will help you see beyond the subscription price and determine the actual cost of using the platform.

GroWrk vs Deel IT: Pros and Cons Based on Real User Reviews

    GroWrk

Users of the platform love that setting up GroWrk is easy and quick, adding to the overall experience:

    Source: G2

A Trustpilot user also shared how the team pivoted a shipment from Argentina to Spain mid-onboarding, saying GroWrk "moved mountains" to meet the deadline.

    Via Trustpilot

Customization also stands out in user reviews; you use only the features you need without a bloated package.

On the other side, shipping speed and dashboard accuracy are the two common complaints.

One user wrote, “The shipping times can sometimes be longer than expected, which could delay important processes. Additionally, the cost involved tends to be on the higher end, making it less cost-effective than I would like.”

Another said shipping updates were "out of date." Retrieval tracking is a blind spot; a reviewer found it "challenging to understand where a device is in the retrieval process." Cost draws mixed reactions.

    Via G2

    Deel IT

Deel IT’s biggest drawback is that most reviews focus on its HR and payroll capabilities rather than its IT capabilities.

However, I still managed to get some real user reviews back from the time when Hofy was just acquired by Deel, and people knew that. For instance, this reviewer from TrustPilot says he is happy about Deel (Hofy at the time) shipping their equipment on time across 5+ countries.

    Source: TrustPilot

Another Deel IT user on TrustPilot shares his frustration about the increased hardware prices and slow response times after Deel’s acquisition:

    Source: TrustPilot

As for more cons, the obvious one is that the IT module is newer and less proven. Customer support is another one that keeps coming up in reviews:

    Via Capterra

    Which Platform Should You Choose?

There’s no right or wrong choice here. Choose the platform that best fits your needs. For instance, choose:

    • GroWrk if your priority is global hardware logistics, flexible pricing, and a more IT-focused platform that works well outside a broader HR stack
    • Deel IT if you are already invested in Deel and want tighter HR-to-IT automation for onboarding, provisioning, and offboarding.

    Consider Workwize If Neither Fits

You wouldn’t be wrong if you think both platforms help you reduce manual intervention and automate asset lifecycle across the globe.

Deel IT makes sense if you already run HR and payroll on Deel and want the simplest native HR-to-IT workflow for onboarding and offboarding.

GroWrk is ideal if you’re a smaller team, want broader country coverage, value pay-as-you-go logistics without a major SaaS commitment, and are okay with an inconsistent experience across locations.

But if you’re a mid-sized company or an enterprise that needs a standalone dedicated ITAM solution that automates your IT asset lifecycle end-to-end and delivers a consistent experience across every country, Workwize is what you need.

For starters, unlike GroWrk, Workwize operates through a network of verified suppliers and its own warehouses. That means you have to deliver a consistent, more reliable experience across every region you operate in.

Also, Workwize’s catalog includes all the popular equipment you need and an option to request more. And you can even ship furniture using Workwize.

Plus, Workwize helps you automate workflows end-to-end.

Say the HR enters a new employee record into the HRIS, which is integrated with Workwize.

Now, based on the conditions you specified, a deployment kit will be automatically sourced and shipped to the new hire before their joining date. Placing orders, checking stock, and approvals are taken care of by Workwize, without any manual intervention.

And our automation works! Workwize’s automation platform helps IT teams save 40% more time by automating manual tasks.
