We're excited to announce global decommissioning, a new way to retire devices from your inventory yourself, on your own schedule, from anywhere in the world.

It's the final stage of the hardware lifecycle, now handled inside the same platform as procurement, deployment, management, and retrieval. Watch the video below. 

Decommission any device, wherever it lives

Idle devices quietly cost you money, whether it's a laptop retrieved after offboarding, a machine gathering dust in a warehouse, or the aging fleet you've been meaning to deal with. Now you can decommission all of it straight from your Workwize inventory, no matter where it's sitting, from a single screen.

Find the right devices to retire, smartly

Knowing what to decommission has always been half the battle. This release gives you two smart ways to surface end-of-life hardware, with full manual control whenever you want it.

• Smart dashboards. The dashboards give you an at-a-glance view of your fleet's health, including devices that have reached end of life. Instead of digging through records, you can see what's aging out and act on it directly.

• The natural language wizard. Not sure how to build the query? Just ask. Describe what you're looking for in plain language, for example, the devices that match your end-of-life criteria, and the built-in wizard finds the assets that fit. It turns 'which laptops should we be retiring' from a research project into a single sentence.

And if you'd rather hand-pick? You can always select specific devices yourself and send them straight to decommissioning. Not sure what's already sitting idle in your inventory?

Choose the outcome: dispose or resell

Once you've selected what to retire, you decide how it should end, and both paths are secure and accountable.

Choose resale or disposal, and a shipping method for pickup.

• Resell to recover value, with a certificate. Rather than scrapping a device that still has life left in it, resell it, recover residual value, and keep hardware in the circular economy instead of writing it off. Most teams assume an old device isn't worth much and write it off by default, but devices within three to four years of use often still hold real resale value, so it's worth checking before you scrap. You also get a data destruction certificate for the resale, so the recovery is as secure and documented as the disposal.

• Dispose with a certificate. Send devices for certified, environmentally responsible disposal with secure data destruction, and receive a certificate as proof. Your data is destroyed, your compliance is documented, and you've got the paperwork to show it.

Whichever you choose, the device leaves your inventory with a clean, documented end state. The loop closes.
